Hama, SANA- Harvest season of pistachio has started in Hama northern countryside, with it being marketed to Murek local market that is the most important one with more than 100 tons per day.
“Hama started to restore its shining in growing and producing the pistachio, especially after the return of locals to their towns and villages”, pistachio office director at the Agriculture Ministry, Jihad al-Muhammad, told SANA reporter.
Al-Muhammad added that “the current season is better that the last ones and the estimated production range between 40-50 thousand tons, with the lands planted with pistachio reaching third of Syria’s production.
SANA monitored the reality of the crop market and its fields in Murek, where the merchant Muhammad al-Ibrahim explained that Murek is the largest market in Syria for the pistachio trade, and that between 75 -100 tons are marketed daily to it.
