Higher Education to give motivational prizes to students who graduate with distinction

Damascus, SANA – The Higher Education Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will be providing motivational cash prizes to university students who graduate with distinction.

Higher Education Minister Mohammad Amer Mardini said that the top ten students in each university major who earn their bachelor’s degree in the 2014-2015 academic year with the minimum number of academic years and who don’t fail any subject will receive a cash prize of SYP 15,000.

Master’s and PhD graduates who get their degrees within the minimum number of years without extending or suspending their enrollment will receive SYP 25,000, with the same amount going to the med student who receives the highest grades.

This step was taken as part of the Ministry’s participation in a national campaign called “Live It Differently” that will last throughout 2015, with individuals and establishments from the public and private sector taking part in it.
