Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Ministry announced Thursday that Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov had a telephone conversation with UN Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura, who spoke about his contacts with the Syrian parties on the issue of ensuring the local “freeze” in old Aleppo.

The Russian side confirmed Moscow’s support for De Mistura and his team in their efforts to promote a speedy settlement of the crisis in Syria, the Ministry said in a statement.

Addressing the delegations to Moscow consultative meeting on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia cares for finding a solution to the crisis in Syria and it will continue to provide all sorts of aid to the Syrians to help realize the unity of their people and to strengthen steadfastness of the Syrian state in confronting terrorism and building a new future.
