Talks with Belarusian ambassador on cooperation in heavy machinery industry

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Minister of Local Administration Omar Ibrahim Ghalawanji discussed with Ambassador of Belarus in Damascus the issue of establishing joint projects in heavy machinery manufacturing and assembly.

Discussions were held on Tuesday in the framework of enhancing the Syrian–Belarusian cooperation relations.

Means of rehabilitating the firefighting system and providing inter-city transport buses were also on the table during Ghalawanji’s meeting with Ambassador Alexander Ponomarev.

Ghakawanji highlighted the massive damage which transport and firefighting systems in the country have sustained due to the terrorist organizations’ vandalism and terrorist acts.

He also made a particular reference to the damage caused to heavy equipment and machinery that are used in waste collecting and disposal in different Syrian areas.

Ghalawanji called for using the opportunity of the upcoming meeting of the Syrian-Belarusian Trade and Economic Cooperation Committee scheduled to be held in Minsk to discuss the above-mentioned areas of cooperation.

Cooperation with the friendly countries, including Iran, Russia and China, is acquiring more importance considering the post-crisis reconstruction stage that will start soon in Syria, said the Minister, inviting Belarusian companies to take part in the investment movement in the country.

In turn, the Belarusian Ambassador stressed the need that the cooperation projects proposed by Minister Ghalawanji be studied during Minsk meeting, along with the related funding and implementation issues.
