Deir Ezzor Water department: 67 water stations Rehabilitated and put into service since 2017

Deir-Ezzor, SANA-The drinking water sector in Deir -Ezzor province has witnessed a remarkable improvement since it was liberated from terrorism and recovered after supplying  large areas with water pumping stations that were rehabilitated and brought into service despite the extent of sabotage caused by terrorism.

Director of the General Establishment  for Drinking Water in Deir Ezzor, Rabie al-Ali, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the establishment is working to secure potable water for all areas of the governorate, particularly  those liberated from terrorism, through the main and model water stations, which number 67 out of 71 stations in the liberated areas and work is currently underway to rehabilitate two stations, which will put into service soon.

Al-Ali indicated that the number of water pumping stations that were put into service increased from one station in 2017 to 33 in 2018, and reached 67 stations at the present time, including 9 stations in the city, all operating on electric power, and 44 stations in the eastern countryside, 28 of which work on electricity and 16 on Diesel and 6 stations in the western countryside, 4 of which operate on electricity, two stations on diesel, and 8 stations in the northern countryside, all operating on electricity.

He pointed out that the total production capacity of all stations is 17 thousand and 80 cubic meters per hour, meeting  the needs of the people in the city’s neighborhoods and the countryside of the governorate liberated from terrorism, elaborating that the establishment workshops are also working on maintaining main and sub- lines in all regions, as it recently completed the implementation of a number of projects in cooperation with International  organizations .

Al-Ali stressed that the water pumped into homes is sterile and safe, and it is periodically checked by technicians in the establishment laboratories.
