Aleppo countryside, SANA – The locals defending Ayn al-Arab city have regained control over more than 60% of the city, including the whole southern neighborhood, the cultural center, and the school compound in the eastern area.
The city, located in northeastern Aleppo on Syria’s northern border with Turkey, has been under repeated attacks since mid September by the terrorist organization of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in a bid to seize control of it.
However, ISIS attempt to take over Ayn al-Arab has been met with fierce resistance by the locals, who have been fighting tooth and nail to defend their city.
Local sources stressed on Saturday that over 60 % of the city are now in the defenders’ hand, noting that the defenders succeeded two days ago to reach the Municipality building in the middle of the city.
The sources also confirmed that ISIS terrorists have withdrawn from several areas northeast of the city which had been under their control.
