Sweida, SANA – A 652 g mushroom of 20 cm in diameter and 25 cm in root depth was discovered in the forests around Salim town in the southern province of Sweida.
In a statement to SANA, citizen Khaled Attallah said he came across this mushroom in the shadow of a big lush tree as he was taking his customary walk at this time of the year to look for mushrooms in the forest, expecting that the fungus belongs to the “Lentinus edodes” family.
SANA reporter also spoke to Head of Sweida Agriculture Directorate, Bassam al-Jarmaqani, who attributed the huge volume of the mushroom to the nutrient-rich organic soil where it grew, accompanied by the heavy rainfall witnessed over the past period.
