United Nations, SANA- The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) demanded that the United Nations must add the violations committed by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) against detainees to its agenda instead of accusing DPRK of violating human rights.
In a letter sent Monday to the UN Security Council, DPRK mission to the UN said that violations committed by CIA against scores of al-Qaeda-linked terrorists which have been tackled in details by a report made by the US Senate are “the most dangerous violations of human rights in the world.”
A US Senate report released last week found that the CIA misled the White House and the public about its torture of detainees after the Sept. 11 attacks and acted more brutally and pervasively than it acknowledged.
“The so-called human rights issue in the DPRK is politically fabricated and, therefore, it is not at all relevant to the regional or international peace and security” DPRK Ambassador to the UN Ja Song Nam said.
DPRK called for the Security Council to establish “an ad-hoc investigation commission mandated to make a thorough probe into the CIA torture crimes and hold those responsible to account for their most serious human rights violations.”
