Brussels , SANA – EU foreign ministers expressed their support to the plan of United Nations envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura and expressed readiness to cooperate with him to improve his proposals.
During their meeting in Brussels Monday, the ministers called upon all Syrian, regional and international sides to work within the Geneva Communiqué Reference.
They stressed the EU’s readiness to cooperate with all international and regional sides that are influential in Syria.
The EU ministers renewed condemnation of terrorist crimes perpetrated by the terrorist organization of “the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq” (ISIS), clarifying that this organization threatens stability of the whole world.
EU foreign ministers agreed to support an effort to implement a “freeze” in fighting in Aleppo, by helping with the reconstruction and rebuilding of local services.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini welcomed Russian and Iranian role in the solution of the crisis anf the diplomatic efforts of Moscow in this regard.
She also referred to the Iranian role by saying that Tehran is a “regionally important player”.
