Syria demands Security Council to assume responsibility for preventing Israeli terrorist attacks

Damascus, SANA_ Syria has stressed that the unwavering and continuous support, the green light given by the US administration and the immunity from liability provided by some members of the UN Security Council to “Israel” encourage it to continue its aggressive approach.

In a letter sent to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Friday, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry  said that the continuation of such attacks is unacceptable and will not go without consequences.

It clarified that the Israeli enemy authorities, at 12.45 a.m, on Friday, December 25, 2020, attacked again the Syrian territories in a flagrant violation of Security Council resolution no. 350 of 1974 concerning the Agreement on Disengagement between the two sides.

The Ministry added that the Israeli enemy launched successive waves of missiles from over the north direction of Lebanese Tripoli city towards Misyaf region in the western countryside of Hama governorate.

This new Israeli aggression, according to the ministry, comes on the eve of the day when the world celebrates the birth of the Jesus Christ, a symbol of love and peace, and such hostile action proves once again continuation of the Israeli occupation authorities in practicing state terrorism, which has increased in recent times, especially after the failure of its attacks and conspiracies, with the aim of prolonging the crisis in Syria by backing the armed terrorist groups, its partners in terrorism.

Syria demands some members of the Security Council to break the state of silence when it comes to “Israel” and to assume their responsibilities within the framework of the United Nations Charter, the most important of which is the maintenance of international peace and security, and to take serious and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of such Israeli terrorist attacks, the ministry said.

The Ministry concluded by calling on the Council to oblige “Israel” to respect its decisions related to the Agreement of Disengagement and to hold it accountable for its terrorism and crimes committed against the Syrian people, all of which constitute flagrant violations of the United Nations Charter, the provisions of international law, UN Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all anti-terrorism relevant resolutions.
