Beirut, SANA_ President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received a number of condolences cables on the death of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem.
In his cable, Lebanese President General Michel Aoun expressed his sincere condolences and highlighted the role that Al-Moallem played in his diplomatic career inside and outside Syria.
He expressed his hope that peace would return to all parts of Syria so that “the brotherly Syrian people will once again enjoy the prosperity they deserve.”
In a similar cable, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also expressed his heartfelt condolences for the death of Foreign Minister Al-Moallem.
“He dedicated most of his life to the service of his country and his people, and to support the causes of the Arab nation, in particular the Palestinian cause,” Abbas said.
President Abbas, on behalf of Palestine people, and his own behalf, extended heartfelt condolences to his Excellency President Al-Assad, the family of the late minister, the brotherly government and to the citizens of Syria, asking God almighty to protect Syria and its brotherly people.
In turn, the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that “the loss of Al-Moallem comes in one of the most delicate stages in which the nation needs figures like him.”
Berri stressed that Al-Moallem is an Arab voice that spoke for the truth to the last beat of his heart.
