Electricity Minister, officials in Homs address services issues

Homs, SANA – Electricity Minister Imad Khamis held a meeting on Sunday with a number of officials in charge of the health and services sectors in Homs province, in which they discussed a number of issues in the province.

Minister Khamis said that steps are being taken to improve the power grid in Homs, and that the electricity sector’s infrastructure is solid despite the methodical attacks targeting it throughout the crisis and despite the shortages of fuel for power stations.

He also called for forming a local committee to follow up on the needs of industrialists in the province and implement a plan for coordinating between water resources projects and the electric power sector.

The attending officials underlined some of the issues affecting the services and utilities sector in the province, addressing issues related to electricity, water, health, industry.

Khamis later visited the industrial zone in Homs city with Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi, stressing the need for providing energy to the zone for 8 hours in the morning.

The Minister inspected work in the Homs Electricity Company, and told journalists following his tour that power distribution and rationing will be revised and infringements on the power grid will be addressed.
