Health Minister: No lack in any medicine product, government assumes burden for financing the imports

Damascus, SANA- Health Minister, Nizar Yaziji, affirmed that there is no lack in any medicinal products, maybe for some trade brands, but there are substitutes to them, adding that the ministry gives licenses of a medicinal type to several pharmaceutical industries.

Yaziji stated in a press conference on Thursday that there is no justification for any pharmaceutical industry to stop the production of medicine, clarifying that the government assumes burden of supporting the financing of the imports of those factories in regards to raw materials and other requirements.

The Minister added that financing the imports is at the fixed exchange rate of SYP /700/ for each $1, pointing out that pricing the medicine items is serially according to that, referring that 1400 out of 11800 medicinal brands have been priced so far.

Yaziji asserted that the U.S. unilateral coercive measures or the so called ” Caesar Act” affect the Syrian citizen even in medicine and hinder bringing the medicines for chronic diseases.

Minister Yazaji noted that registering one Coronavirus infection a few days ago for a person who had contacted with another case who came from abroad emphasizes the importance of committing to the preventive measures which have been taken to confront Coronavirus.

He clarified that there is still thinking about repatriating the Syrians stranded abroad until ending the procedures related to Syrians who had returned so far.
