“Damascus First Marathon” to support people with special needs kicks off

Damascus, SANA_ “Damascus First Marathon” to support people with special needs was launched on Friday at al-Faiha’a Sports city in Damascus.

About  3500 contestants from schools, universities and players of the Special Olympiad national team took part in the marathon, which is jointly organized by the Foundation of the Syrian Special Olympiad in cooperation with Damascus Governorate and the Ministry of Education.

The marathon is organized in commemoration of the World Day of People with Special Needs which falls on December 3rd.

The countries of the world celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities on December 3rd approved by the United Nation since 1992 to promote an understanding of disability issues , ensure the rights of persons with disabilities and integrate them in various fields of life through building their capacities and qualifying them to be productive persons.
