Homs, SANA – Students of Ikrima al-Makhzoumi and the New Ikrima schools in Homs marked on Saturday the 40th day after the death of their colleagues who died in the twin terrorist blasts that targeted the school compound.
The participants, who included the dead children’ relatives and representatives of civil associations, planted seedlings in a park near the schools and gave them the names of the children who were martyred in the attacks, in a sign stressing that knowledge is the most powerful weapon to fight terrorism and obscurantist mentality.
The students voiced unshakable determination to continue their education against all odds.
The martyrs’ parents, while deeply regretting the unbearable loss of their children, stressed readiness to offer more sacrifices to uproot terrorism ravaging the country since 2011.
Public Relations Director at al-Shaheed (Martyr) Charity, Ayman Ali, said this “national and humanitarian initiative” aims at standing by the martyrs’ families and paying tribute to the children who passed away as a result of this unspeakable crime.
On Oct. 1st, two terrorist bombings targeted a school compound in Ikrima neighborhood in Homs city, claiming the lives of 32 civilians, mostly children, and leaving more than 115 others injured.
