Damascus, SANA- The unique architectural style of ancient-fashion Damascene houses and buildings, which amazes visitors of Damascus old city, makes these houses deserve to have UNESCO World Heritage site status.

The winding alleys away from the monotony and boredom and embracing houses in Damascus old city reflect the nature of inhabitants and summarize some of the characteristics of Damascus old city with all of  its civilized, historic and human heritage.

French poet Alphonse de Lamartine, who visited Damascus in 1833,  described the genius Damascene architecture and architects as saying: “ A people whose architects are capable to draw a likeness of Khan Asaad Pasha and workers  capable to execute it will not die in the field of arts”.
