Syrian karate champion Osama Azzam wins silver medal in Poland Championships

Warsaw, SANA – Syrian karate champion Osama Azzam won the silver medal in Individual Kata at the ITKF World Championships in Poland, which brought together 40 teams from 28 countries.

Azzam earned his win after beating all his counterparts in the preliminary rounds, quarter-finals and semi-finals before he lost to Belarus’s champion in the final game.

Speaking to SANA by phone, Azzam expressed overwhelming happiness over hoisting the Syrian flag at the end of the championship, dedicating his win to the Syrian people and the “heroes of the Syrian Arab Army” who are defending the homeland against terrorism.

Last year, Azzam won the second place in World Karate Championship in Serbia. He also earned the bronze medal in 2012 Bulgaria Championship.
