Damascus, SANA- Two engineers, Lilyan Mohammed Nasser and Yara Mahmoud al-Qadi and Dr. Ali Mohammed Ali from the Faculty of Technical Engineering at Tartous University managed to manufacture food wraps suitable for eating and made of potato starch, orchid and wild thyme as that will substitute plastic wraps.
The project aims to manufacture anti-bacterial micro-food wraps that preserve the quality and safety of foodstuffs as long as possible and to reduce the harmful microbial activity of food and replace the plastic wraps which are considered as one of the sources of environmental pollution.
Engineer Nasser told SANA that those wraps are transparent, homogeneous and flexible and they have a thin skin which can be removed by the water that they are totally heathy and environmentally friendly.
