Hasaka, SANA-Tens of citizens in Qamishli city participated in a walk to support the national campaign for early detection of breast cancer.
The walk is held under the title of “Be Stronger than Cancer” and is organized by the Social Affairs and Labor Directorate and the Syrian Association for Social Development (House of All) in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Participants in the walk toured a number of the city’s main streets to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of this disease.
Director of Social Affairs Issam al-Hussein said that the Directorate, in cooperation with a number of associations, carried out a series of awareness activities for the early detection of breast cancer, which brought together dozens of women participating in the promotion of a culture of health awareness and the importance of the breast self-exam and periodic health checkup for women.
In turn, coordinator of the Syrian Society for Social Development Susan Hussein said that her participation in the walk aims at supporting women to be strong and to have the motivation to conduct the examination and detection of the disease which increased over the past years.
