Swiss pianist Perrenoud performs piano jazz concert at Opera House

Damascus, SANA_ Swiss jazz pianist and composer Marc Perrenoud performed a piano jazz concert at the Damascus-based Opera House on Thursday evening.

The well-known player showed the harmonious rhythmic abilities of the piano machine with this style of music which is based on techniques used by pianists while playing jazz music.

Perrenoud, accompanied by maestro Missak Baghboudarian, the conductor of the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, toured the Opera House and met a number of students of the Higher Institute of Music during their training.

The pianist expressed his happiness for being is Damascus for the second time. His first visit was in 2010 where he performed a concert at the jazz festival.

He expressed his love for Syria, which has been the pioneer in attracting international artists.

“I love Syria; Damascus and Aleppo are among the most important historical and cultural cities in the world as Damascus is the oldest inhabited city that is known for its rich cultural diversity.

Performing this concert in Damascus, according to Perrenoud, came due the importance of cultural festivals and their key role in returning the art life to Syria by its lovers.

Marc Perrenoud (born 1981) is a Swiss jazz pianist and composer; he started playing piano and improvising at the age of 6. He studied at the Geneva Conservatory. He is co-founder and artistic director of the festival “the Athénéennes” in Geneva.

Perrenoud established a group “Marc Perrenoud Trio” which has given more than 300 concerts in all the major festivals and jazz clubs around the world.
