MOU between Syria and China in the field of protecting and mending antiquities signed

Beijing, SANA – The Directorate-General for Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) signed a memo of understanding with the Imperial Palace in Beijing with the aim of boosting bilateral cultural relations between the Syrian and Chinese sides in the field of protecting heritage and maintaining antiquities.

The signature of the MOU came during the annual Festival of Taihe for Heritage organized by the Palace on ancient civilizations with the participation of dozens of foreign delegations from all over the world.

The five-year MOU aims at achieving cooperation in the field of protecting and mending archaeological finds and buildings affected due to the war of terrorism in the country, in addition to holding co-exhibitions and cultural activities.

The renewable MOU also stipulates for training staffs of the Directorate in the field of mending, documenting and rehabilitating archaeological sites as well as providing all sorts of support that leads to preserving the Syrian heritage.
