The Hague, SANA-Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that Syria highly appreciates Russia’s support in the fight against terrorism and the common coordination between the two sides, especially in confronting the attempts of countries that exploit international organizations to cover terrorist crimes.
Mikdad’s remarks came during a meeting with a Russian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Georgy Kalamanov, to the 22nd Session of the Conference of the States Parties in the OPCW which is being held in The Hague, during which both sides exchanged point of views on the joint cooperation in issues related to the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
He affirmed that Syria appreciates the political and technical support it receives from the Russian side in confronting the armed terrorist groups, and ongoing coordination between the two sides in OPCW, especially in confronting the attempts of countries that exploit international organizations to cover the crimes of armed terrorist organizations.
Mikdad went on to say that views of both the Syrian and Russian sides are in agreement to uncover the practices of the investigators of the OPCW-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) which led to politicizing the work of the OPCW by some known countries, but the efforts led by the Russian Federation over the past weeks at the UN Security Council in New York and in the Executive Council of the OPCW in The Hague have foiled attempts by those countries to pass their malicious agendas.
In turn, Kalamanov affirmed that Russia is fully aware of what is going on in Syria, saying that the most important thing is the elimination of terrorism and the restoration of the entire Syrian territory from the terrorists.
He expressed joy that more than 98% of Syrian territory has been liberated, adding that the Syrian and Russian sides agreed on the necessity of exerting all efforts to rebuild Syria.
