Syria meets Jordan within 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian basketball team is meeting Jordanian counterpart in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday within the qualifiers of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup due to be held in China.

The Syrian team has been drawn in Group C for the first round of the World Cup’s Asian Qualifiers, along with India, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Next Sunday, the Syrian team will meet the Indian team on its land, while the match with Lebanese team will be held next February in Jordan.

To qualify for the second round, Syria has to finish amongst the top three of its group. In the second round Syria will have to finish amongst the top three of its group of six.

Head of the Basketball Association, Mohammed Jalal Narkash, said in a statement to SANA that the current team includes the best basketball players in Syria, expressing optimism that the team will show good performance in today’s game.
