First endoscopic cardiac surgery in Syria conducted successfully

Damascus, SANA – A medical team at al-Assad University Hospital succeeded in conducting the first endoscopic cardiac surgery in Syria.

Speaking to SANA on Tuesday, head of the team, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon Ahmed Khaddour said the operation, which was performed for a 43-year-old woman on the 27th of September, lasted for two hours.

He added that the patient was discharged from the hospital after one day of the surgery and returned to her normal life.

Al-Assad University Hospital, which was opened in Damascus city in 1988, is considered one of the most important educational hospitals affiliated to the Higher Education Ministry in the country. It provides advanced medical and surgical services to patients. It also conducts medical courses for medicine students, graduates and doctors.
