“Back to School” campaign launched by Education Ministry and UNICEF

Damascus, SANA – Education Ministry, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), launched “Back to School” campaign at Cham Hotel in Damascus.

The campaign will last till the end of the first school semester.

In a press statement, Assistant Minister of Education Dr. Saeed Khorasani said that the Ministry is working with the UNICEF to provide all facilitations that will ensure the return of students to school, including the distribution of 800,000 school bags to targeted students in all areas.

He added that the Ministry is facing many challenges today, including the rehabilitation of schools and developing curriculum, noting that 58,000 teachers have been trained in the new curricula to implement it and that the UNICEF also provided about one million dollars to support the printing of the school books.

The Ministry of Education set the 6th of September as the beginning of the new school year 2017-2018 at all schools and for all grades.
