Moscow, SANA – The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the terrorist attacks which targeted Damascus and claimed the lives of many civilians as “an attempt to hinder the political settlement in Syria”.
“We condemn that bloody aggression which was committed on the background of stepped-up efforts to reach a political and diplomatic settlement in Syria,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
It urged the international partners to deal with the threat of terrorism and extremism seriously and to conduct resolute struggle against this evil by coordinating efforts on collective grounds in line with international law and provisions of the UN Charter.
On Sunday morning, competent authorities detected three car bombs heading to Damascus. They rendered two vehicles harmless at the Airport Road roundabout while the third vehicle managed to get into Bab Touma area in the city center where a suicide bomber set the explosive device off.
