Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed that Moscow positively evaluates the latest round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva.
Zakharova, at a weekly press conference on Thursday, said that Moscow positively evaluates the results reached during the last round of the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva, adding that activating Geneva process is very important for enhancing the success achieved during Astana meeting.
She reiterated that the US aggression on one of the military points of the Syrian Arab Army on al-Tanf road in the Syrian Badiya (desert) is a blatant violation of international law and all its justifications are “unacceptable and irrational”, adding that “our western partners” don’t want to realize the need to unite efforts in the fight against terrorism.
Zakharova said that Russian Defense Ministry considers the situation in the de-escalation areas as “stable”, indicating that the Syrian Arab Army is making further progress against ISIS terrorists who are trying to launch counter-attacks in several areas, including Deir Ezzor.
The Russian diplomat said that the Syrian government is continuing its efforts to rebuild cities and towns that were destroyed by terrorists.
She pointed out that the Syrian government is weekly provides information to international organizations on the smuggling of chemicals to Syria from abroad and the plans made by terrorists to use these materials and “blame the Syrian government of using them as what has happened in Idleb’s Khan Sheikhoun.”
“We numerously urged partners at various international venues, first of all, in the UN Security Council and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to pull efforts to counter chemical terrorism. However, all our efforts either do not find proper support of colleagues from Western countries or are openly blocked by them,” Zakharova said.
