Damascus, SANA – Social Affairs and Labor Minister Rima al-Qadiri discussed on Monday with Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem means of boosting cooperation between the Ministry and UNFPA and upgrading it, particularly in spheres related to looking after women and children affected by the crisis.
The meeting focused on setting plans and joint work for implementing a number of programs during 2017 in relation to capacity building and enhancing the productivity of young people.
The Minister pointed out that the crisis has created big challenges in the social affairs, which requires more work in the framework of the social responsibility as to achieve advance in a feasible way, stressing the need for focusing on the women who have become the bread-winners of their families.
For her part, Kanem clarified that the aim of the meeting is to stress the support of UNFPA in following up the implementation of the program in Syria and means of increasing the efficacy of the program implemented by the UNFPA in cooperation with the governmental institutions and NGO’s in the country in a way that gives positive impacts on the social categories which are to benefit from.
