Damascus, SANA – Head of the Higher Committee for Relief, caretaker Minister of Social Affairs Kinda al-Shammat called upon the UN World Food Program (WFP) to increase and expand its humanitarian programs in Syria to meet the needs of families affected by the crisis in the country.
Al-Shammat was speaking during a meeting with WFP Executive Director Ertharin Cousin on Tuesday.
Minister al-Shammat expressed the government’s keenness on providing the required facilitations to international organizations working in the humanitarian field in Syria, and on deepening coordination between the two sides to cover the needs of affected families.
“Cooperation between the Higher Committee and the international organizations is ongoing, particularly with regard to delivering humanitarian aid to some areas,” al-Shammat said.
She added that the Committee, the WFP and some international organizations have a plan for aid distribution and delivery to cover all areas.
