Homs, SANA – Public Works and Housing Minister Hussein Arnous reviewed the governmental efforts to fight terrorism, rebuild the country and take appropriate steps to ensure good living conditions for citizens.
Minister Arnous was speaking at the economic forum organized Thursday by Homs branch of the al-Baath Arab Socialist Party under the title “Homs..from destruction to reconstruction” .
He noted that a committee will be formed to provide compensation for damages inflicted on citizens as a result of terrorist acts.
The Minister highlighted the positive role of public construction companies and institutions in the current crisis through continuing the implementation of vital projects in secure and safe areas, stressing the importance of private sector’s contribution to the rebuilding process via providing solutions to housing problems, establishing real estate projects and encouraging expatriates to invest in their country.
Member of the Regional Leadership of the al-Baath Party, Malek Ali, stressed the importance of this forum in coordinating efforts and establishing partnerships in order to rebuild what has been destroyed due to terrorism, noting that Syria will remain steadfast and achieve victory thanks to the sacrifices of its army, the unity of its people and leadership and the support of the friendly countries against the terrorist war waged on it.
In turn, Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi presented a comprehensive review and future vision on the rebuilding of Homs as 85% of the province is now safe and stable thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian army, noting that the economic, historic and cultural importance of certain areas will be taken into consideration.
The attendees discussed appropriate ways to bring down buildings that are about to fall and avoid the threat they pose on lives and vehicles, means of financing future projects and enhancing the role of national institutions and private companies in the rebuilding stage.
The forum wrapped up activities with screening a documentary film on Homs in 2014, 2016 and 2020.
