Patrushev: Eradicating terrorism in Syria needs collective international efforts

Moscow, SANA- Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev Russian actions are not enough to eradicate terrorism in Syria and require collective efforts, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev told Sputnik in an interview on Tuesday.

Moscow launched a counterterrorist air campaign in Syria on September 30, 2015, at the request of the Syrian Government, Patrushev noted, adding that it is clear that our actions in this area will be insufficient. The struggle against terrorism necessitates the collective efforts of the international community. We have stated this many times and are ready to continue cooperation with all stakeholders,”

He slammed attempts of interference in internal affairs of sovereign states and isolation.

Russia has avoided and will avoid any interference in the internal affairs of sovereign
states. However, this does not mean that we will allow anyone to export to our country their own problems. These attempts will be dealt with firmly and decisively,” Patrushev said.

“Russia proceeds from the fact that in the current international situation it is equally
counterproductive to go into isolation, as well as attempts to isolate other players,” Patrushev said.
