Cabinet approves executive matrix of Administrative Development Ministry’s national plan

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet approved during its weekly session chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Tuesday a number of bills related to civil affairs, local administration, and administrative development.

The Cabinet approved a bill adding an article to the local administration law that authorizes the Prime Minister upon a suggestion from the Local Administration Ministry to discharge the head of council of an administrative unit such as a city, town, municipality, or governorate, which would be carried out if such an executive is proven to have committed infringements or actions that harm the administrative unit.

The Cabinet also approved a bill on amending the civil affairs law to facilitate the recording of civil status and make it easier to procure related documents.

After discussions, the Cabinet approved the executive matrix of Administrative Development Ministry’s national plan which will serve as a work plan for administrative development and improving public sector work, services provided to citizens, and administrative reforms.

The Cabinet also tasked the Agriculture and Industry Ministries with studying the status of the tobacco growing sector and prospects of expanding and developing it, in addition to discussing means to improve economic relations with friendly countries by assigning heads of joint committees with these countries and evaluating the joint businessmen councils.
