De Mistura to meet US, Russian officials in Geneva on Tuesday

Geneva, SANA- UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura will hold talks Tuesday with US and Russian officials in Geneva in a bid to revive the Syrian-Syrian talks, according to Jessy Chahine, the spokeswoman for UN Special Envoy for Syria.

Chahine told AFP that de Mistura will meet with State Department’s special envoy for Syria Michael Ratney and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.

On Friday, de Mistura announced his determination to set for a proper date in August for re-launching the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva, pointing out that the Russian-US understanding towards some steps should help in resuming the dialogue.

He also considered that the next three weeks are going to be extremely important to give the opportunity not only for the resumption of dialogue between the Syrians, but also in order to reduce “violence” in Syria.
