Borodavkin: Russia insists that next round of Syrian talks be direct

Moscow, SANA- Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in Geneva Alexey Borodavkin announced on Thursday that Russia insists that the next round of Syrian-Syrian dialogue between the government’s and the opposition’s delegations in Geneva be direct.

Borodavkin said Russia believes that the new round of talks should not only be speeded up, but is also essential that these talks be held directly between the Syrian government and opposition’s delegations this time for the Syrians to be able through direct dialogue to form a broad-based government.

The UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said on Wednesday that he continues to work to set up a new date for the resumption of Syrian dialogue, adding that dialogue must have a good chance for success before holding any talks.
