Aleppo, SANA- Aleppo Governor Mohammad Marwan Olabi discussed on Wednesday with Hanaa Sanjar, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Resident Representative in Syria the reality of relief work in the province and means to enhance joint cooperation to help the affected families.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the stages of rehabilitating Jabrin buildings for temporary residence and the provision of basic services to be suitable to host affected families.
For his part, Aleppo Governor stressed the governorate’s keenness to implement the programs and activities which aim at providing services and offering training opportunities for the affected families to help them earn a livelihood and provide them with a steady income.
In turn, Sanjar reiterated the organization’s commitment to help Syrians through cooperation with governmental establishments, pointing out that the UNCIEF’ plan for this year in Aleppo includes the rehabilitation of 100 wells, 60 of which have been accomplished and targets 50000 out-of-school children through self-education curriculum.
She also expressed appreciation for the current cooperation with Aleppo governorate and for the facilitations provided to UNICEF team to be able to fulfill its role.
In a relevant context, Aleppo Governor also met Sajad Malik, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Syria, discussing with him the programs and activities carried out by the organization in Aleppo.
They also discussed increasing joint cooperation with UNHCR, mainly in issues related to meeting its needs of relief materials from the local market in Aleppo as this has a role in activating the economic movement.
The two sides also discussed the UNHCR steps to rehabilitate 200 houses which were affected by the terrorist shells.
In turn, Olabi hailed the efforts of the Commission in supporting the makeshift centers, calling on the Commission to establish small projects and development programs in the villages of Aleppo countryside to improve the economic conditions of the families of those villages.
For his part, Malik expressed readiness to study the reality of these families and implement programs to improve their living conditions in the coming period, pointing out that many of the ideas that have been discussed with authorities in Aleppo during the last period had turned to business and projects on the ground.
