4.4 magnitude earthquake hits north of Palmyra

Damascus, SANA – An earthquake estimated at 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale on Monday hit Palmyra outskirts, 18 km to the north of the archeological city.

In a statement, the National Center for Earthquakes said that the quake hit at 12:14 pm local time and was centered at a depth of 10 km at the longitude 38.28 and latitude 34.72.
