Armenian Orthodox sect in Syria celebrates Christmas

Damascus, SANA- The Armenian Orthodox sect of the Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendar in Syria celebrated Wednesday Christmas at St. Sarkis Church for the Armenian Orthodox in Damascus.

Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Armenian Church of Damascus, delivered Christmas sermon in which he asserted that Syria will remain forever a highlight for the nations in enhancing amity and fraternization.

“We celebrate today the birth of Jesus Christ who is the prophet of love and peace as we pray and ask God to make peace prevailing in Syria”, Nalbandian said.

He said that Syrian’s awareness will remain the first guarantor for its victory in the face of the tribulations and conspiracies hatched against it.

The Bishop congratulated on this occasion the Syrian people and the sponsor of peace, president Bashar al-Assad, who is the guarantee of peace in Syria.

Orthodox Christian communities around the world organize their Christmas celebrations on January 6 which marks the start of Christmas Eve for much of the Eastern Christian world.
