Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet’s weekly session on Tuesday tackled a number of services and economic issues such as improving services particularly in the fields of transport, water, electricity, and health.
The Cabinet also discussed a bill on establishing a fund for providing loans to administrative units to fund services and investment projects, in addition to discussing a number of memos including one on supporting agricultural production.
Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi asserted that the government is working to improve institutional work and limit corruption and nepotism, stressing the need to enforce justice, transparency, and credibility.
Al-Halaqi said the government is evaluating the performance of all sectors on constant and periodic basis, and will continue work in the field of administrative reform and development.
The Premier also called for following up on information about injustice in electricity rationing among some areas, in addition to calling for monitoring public transport fees and addressing the issue of poor ATM performance caused by the lack of maintenance supplies due to the sanctions imposed on Syria.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalwanji briefed the Cabinet on the status of the services sectors and the efforts to provide electivity and food to Aleppo and relief supplies to Deir Ezzor, while Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem asserted that fighting terrorism is a priority, and that anyone who bears arms against the state is a terrorist.
