Cabinet discuses enhancing air fleet and transportation sector

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of services and economic issues, including enhancing the air fleet between provinces and the transportation sector between cities and suburbs, in addition to the performance of tourism offices.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi affirmed the government’s adherence to combating those who are exploiting the current crisis to achieve personal benefits at the expense of citizens, calling on ministries to improve the work of their press offices to enhance their cooperation with media outlets and provide correct and accurate information.

Al-Halaqi instructed the Education Ministry to inspect the situation of private schools and to instruct education directorates in the provinces to be more lenient about school uniforms and dress codes.

The Cabinet also condemned terrorist bombings which took place recently in Hasaka province and claimed the lives of many civilians and wounded many others.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Minister of Local Administration Omar Ghalawanji reviewed adopted measures to ensure the success of the production process in the industrial city of al-Sheikh Najjar in the northern province of Aleppo.

In turn, Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said that for the 4th year in a row, the Saudi government has prevented Syrian pilgrims from performing the religious ritual of Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca), and that such behavior is contrary to the ethics of Islam.

The cabinet also took the necessary steps to complete the approval of a draft law on exempting all Iranian imports for the Syrian public sector from customs and fees regardless of the imported goods’ country of origin.
