Parliament Speaker stresses on more coordination with Democratic Korea to face the common enemy

Damascus, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham said Syria and Democratic Korea face a common enemy, which demands coordination at international forums.

Al-Laham, whose remarks came during a meeting on Thursday with Democratic Korea’s ambassador in Damascus Zhang Meng Hu, said the common enemy is seeking to impose its will on the friendly peoples of both countries by force.

This issue, he added, “necessitates coordinating the stances at the international forums and cooperation in the various fields to face all the enemies’ conspiracies.”

While highlighting the need for further cooperation, the Speaker affirmed that the relationship binding Syria and Democratic Korea is “historical” and “strategic” and based on firm principles that serve both peoples’ interests and common struggle against the imperialist plots.

For his part, Ambassador Zhang said the peoples of Syria and Democratic Korea are “comrades in arms” fighting in the same ditch against the policies of the US and the Zionist entity.

He expressed his belief that the Syrian people, thanks to their army and leadership, will triumph over terrorism and success in restoring security and stability to their country.

Victory, the Democratic Korean ambassador said, is always on the side of the peoples who aspire for maintaining their sovereignty and independence, adding that this is what Syria is doing in the face of the imperialist conspiracies.
