GSF tells the Australian Delegation the importance of the visit in building bridges among peoples

Damascus, SANA – The message of the Australian sport delegation’s visit will be clear to the Australian people that what the mass media have reported about what is going on in Syria is lies and fabrication, Chairman of the General Sports Federation Maj. Gen. Muaffaq Juma’a said.

Gen. Juma’a added, during a dinner held on Wednesday at al-Jalaa Sport City in Damascus, that the meetings which the delegation has held with official and religious figures and its visit to several areas in Damascus and Lattakia have contributed to uncover the truth of what is going on in the country on the ground.

He asserted that the delegation got acquainted with volume of the conspiracy hatched against Syria and the resilience of the Syrian people and their rallying around their leadership in confronting the terrorist attacks which aim at undermining the Syrian state.

Juma’a stressed the importance of Australian delegation’s, which encompasses athletes; clergymen and academies, is to enhance communication among the peoples and the role of religious men and athletes in stretching bridges of communications whatever languages are.

The visit of the Australian delegation aims at building bridges between the two peoples of Syria and Australia and conveying the reality of what is going on in Syria, Maher Dabagh, the Honorary Consul of Syria to Australia said.

Father David Smith, an Australian clergyman, champion boxer and head of the delegation expressed hope to convey the reality of what is going on in Syria to the Australian community to push those who were misled by the falsification of some mass media to change their stances.

Stressing intention to organize a second visit to Syria in the near future of a larger boxer and media team, Father Smith elaborated that the visit aims at documenting what is going on in Syria and conveying the true image of the events in it.

The Australian sports delegation participated in a number of sports events and visited Damascus and Lattakia during their visit to Syrian whuch started 15 July.
