Damascus, SANA – A number of charitable associations, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, held on Monday an Iftar banquet in Damascus, attended by a number of Muslim and Christian figures.
Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Kinda al-Shammat told reporters that the activity conveys a letter of adherence to national unity, and a message that the Syrian women are standing by the Syrian soldiers in their battle against terrorism.
For her part, Presidential Political and media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban said that the attendance of Muslim and Christian figures in the banquet is an expression of Ramadan and Islam tolerant atmosphere, adding “this represents Syria’s real image.”
“Any activity in Syria is a response to any aggression which targets it,” she added.
In turn, Syria’s Grand Mufti Dr. Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun said the Syrian women proved to be the incubator for steadfast soldiers that have been sacrificing their lives in defense of their homeland, hoping security and stability will be restored to Syria.
He added that there is an initiative to pay a visit to Deir Ezzor city where the Syrian women will be there to provide humanitarian aid to the locals of Deir Ezzor.
