Syria calls on Human Rights’ Council to press Israel to comply with its legal obligations

Geneva, SANA – Syria called on the United Nations Human Rights’ Council to adopt an approach that forces the Israeli occupation entity to comply with its legal obligations towards the human rights in Palestine and the Occupied Syrian Golan.

“In spite of hundreds of resolutions adopted by the United Nations, the latest of which on the human rights in Palestine and occupied Golan, the Israeli Occupation authorities continue their systematic violations of the basic rights of the Syrian people in Golan,” Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Hussam Eddin Ala said in a speech at the 29th Session of the Human Rights Council to discuss human rights status in Palestine and occupied Arab lands.

Alla pointed out that the occupation authorities continue to confiscate lands and loot water resources, imposing heavy taxes and unfair fines on the Syrian citizens in Golan to besiege them economically and punish them because they practice their rights to build on their lands.

“The Israeli Occupation authorities are seeking to establish what they call farms’ project on large areas of lands which they seized in Occupied Golan aiming at bringing nearly 750 families from abroad to settle there in a flagrant violation of Geneva agreements of 1949, Ala added.

He affirmed that the Human rights council, in its resolution No. 28/24, called on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their repressive procedures against the Syrians in the occupied Golan, and release the Syrian captives from the Israeli prisons.

“The Israeli entity has recorded an additional chapter of legal violations when it offered support to the terrorist groups at the disengagement zone in Golan and treated the injured terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra,” Ala said.

He added that the Israeli mounting violations require adopting an approach which forces Israel to comply with its legal obligations towards human rights.
