Water Resources Ministry and UNICEF delegation discuss future cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources Kamal al-Sheikha discussed Sunday with a delegation of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) led by Dr. Peter Salama, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, the prospects for future cooperation.

Al-Sheikha affirmed during the meeting the importance of the joint program between the ministry and UNICEF, underlining the necessity of executing the emergency plan in all provinces, particularly in Aleppo which is suffering from water shortage and Daraa province where terrorist organizations control the main water resources.

For his part, Salama hailed the organization’s successful cooperation with the ministry, stressing the necessity of offering financial support to carry out the most profitable projects that serve larger number of citizens.

Salama expressed the delegation’s readiness to determine the urgent and pressing needs in water and sanitation sector.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination and cooperation to execute projects according to priorities and urgent needs.
