Syria, Iran sign agreements in electricity, health and industry domains

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Iran signed on Tuesday many agreements in the fields of investment, health, electricity and industry.

The agreements were signed by electricity Minister Imad Khamis, Industry Minister Kamal al-Din Toma and Secretary General of the Cabinet, Tayseer al-Zoubi  on the Syrian side and  Head of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Development Relations’ committee Rustom Qasimi on the Iranian side.

Following the meetings, Al-Zoubi said that the agreements aim at offering goods and equipment that Syria needs according to priorities specified by the Syrian government.

He added that Syria has put, along with Iran, a work plan aiming to facilitate the measures of implementing the aforementioned agreements, in order to provide the Syrian markets with the Iranian commodities, exceeding the Bureaucratic difficulties.

The two sides agreed on the continuation of providing Syria with the Iranian crude oil to meet its needs, supplying the hospitals with medicines and medical equipment, ensuring the entire requirements of electricity sector from the Iranian industry, signing a memorandum on developing Tamiko Medicine Factory and reviewing the previous free zone trade agreement to reduce the customs fees in the near future to 0%, al-Zoubi added.

He clarified that the joint economic cooperation agreement signed last March has entered into force, asserting that a central and sub-committees were formed to activate working on the agreement.

Head of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Development Relations’ committee, Rustom Qasimi, for his part, said those agreements will be positively reflected on life in Syria, affirming that Iran doesn’t hesitate in standing by the Syrian leadership and people during the crisis.

He reiterated Iran’s keenness to take decisions and measures which help develop the two countries’ relations and standing by the Syrian people in the war waged against it.

The agreements come after two-day talks held by the two sides in Damascus.
