Damascus, SANA-Central Bank of Syria (CBS) urged the money-change companies to increase the effect of their interference in the market to decrease the activity of the parallel market concerning dealings with foreign currency.
“The bank is always ready to finance all import requests in a true and fair price, and it is ready to respond to the demands of citizens for non-trade purposes through the quantity of 200 USD,” Adeb Mayaleh, CBS governor said on Sunday at a meeting with the money-exchange companies.
He pointed out to the big volume of manipulation practiced by some websites in the foreign currency market, aiming at harming the confidence of citizen in the national economy and the Syrian pound.
For their part, representatives of the money-change companies appreciated the effectiveness and unconditional intervention mechanism carried out by CBS which sent a blow to the manipulators in the market.
They affirmed that the price of the Syrian pound is in a continuous and gradual improvement since last Wednesday.
The price of the USD against the Syrian pound has sharply dropped during the last few days.
