Damascus, SANA-General Establishment of Water in Damascus held on Wednesday a documentary exhibition on the phases of developing the investment of al-Feijeh spring under the title “Feijeh Spring.. treasure of Damascus.”
The exhibition, which was held on the occasion of 69th anniversary of Independence Day, displays 125 pictures on the phases and history of the famous spring and the tunnels and wells that were dug to water Damascus city.
“The establishment is committed to protect the spring, which represents the most famous features of Damascus, the oldest inhabited capital in the world, from pollution and losses to make the safe and clean water reach all citizens in the city,” Minister of Water Resources Kamal al-Sheikha said in a speech at the opening ceremony.
For his part, General Director of the Establishment Hussam Hreidin said the situation of the spring is good, particularly after the high quantities of rain fell this year, pointing out to the efforts exerted to ensure clean, sterilized water for all citizens and mend the damages in the regions where the water networks came under attacks by terrorists.
Minister of Environment Nazera Sarkis attained the exhibition.
