Homs, SANA- The Mawasem Development Foundation, in cooperation with the Clean Environment Foundation and the Directorate of Sanitation in Homs, launched a new volunteer campaign Sunday aimed at enhancing the environmental and aesthetic appearance of the al-Qarabis neighborhood.
Titled “Towards a Clean Environment,” the campaign, as stated by Engineer Rima Sharafli, Chairwoman of the Mawasem Development Foundation, seeks to expand cleaning efforts across the city’s neighborhoods to meet citizens’ needs, while promoting and reinforcing the culture of volunteer work. The goal is to unite the community to restore the city’s charm and maintain a clean, sustainable, and healthy environment.
Sharafli emphasized the need for collective efforts to enhance the efficiency of the sanitation system and improve the overall environment in all city neighborhoods.
Osama Abdul-Baqi, a member of the al-Qarabis neighborhood committee, explained that the volunteer initiatives included not only cleaning but also planting trees on Othman Bin Affan Street, installing lighting, repairing sidewalks, and paving some neighborhood roads.
Volunteers Mohammad al-Sabbagh and Abdul-Majid Bakir noted that this humanitarian volunteer work helps improve services for residents returning to their homes, strengthens participatory community values, and enhances the area’s aesthetic appeal, reflecting solidarity and the spirit of giving in the new Syria.
