Governor of Sweida visits spiritual leaders of the Druze Community to extend Eid al-Fitr greetings

Sweida, SANA-Dr. Mustafa al-Bakour, Governor of Sweida, accompanied by a delegation including directors of official departments and heads of administrative units, visited the spiritual leaders of the Druze Muslim community on Sunday to extend congratulations on Eid al-Fitr.

The visit included stops at Daret Qanawat (Qanawat Residence) to greet His Eminence Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, the spiritual leader of the Druze Muslim community; the Druze Council headquarters in Ain al-Zaman in Sweida city to greet His Eminence Sheikh al-Aql Youssef Jarbou and the residence in the village of Sahwat al-Balata village to greet His Eminence Sheikh al-Aql Hamoud al-Hanawi.

During his meeting with the Governor, Sheikh al-Hijri expressed confidence in Dr. Mustafa al-Bakour, describing him as the bridge between the community and the government in Damascus.

He emphasized the importance of empowering youth and providing them with suitable opportunities, stating, “We must all support them, particularly those with high academic qualifications, as they represent the most promising future for the homeland.”

Sheikh al-Hijri added, “We hope that officials and managers in government institutions work on overcoming challenges and resolving them in ways that benefit the public interest.”

He underscored the importance of the oversight role played by the community alongside institutions in building a strong and balanced nation.
