Within “Damascus Goes Green” Campaign, 3,500 trees planted in Qasioun area

Damascus, SANA- Within the recently launched ” Damascus Goes Green ” campaign by Damascus Governorate, the Parks Directorate, in cooperation with volunteer teams, planted approximately 3,500 trees in the Unknown Soldier area on Mount Qasioun in Damascus.

The supervisor of the Parks Directorate in the governorate, Eng. Sabri Abbas, stated to SANA that the planted trees included Jacaranda, Carob, Elm, and Hackberry.

He noted that the “” Damascus Goes Green” campaign also involves planting Bitter Orange, Chinaberry, ornamental plants, and roses in public squares, gardens, medians, roadsides, and schools to restore the greenery of Damascus.

Abbas emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of environmental preservation and highlighting tree-planting campaigns, their care, and their environmental and aesthetic benefits.
